This weekend sees the bi-ennial homage to The Diggers from the combined organisations of the US and European golf tours. Eschewing the minimal expense and hard up nature of our tour, the ‘Ryder Cup’ is a veritable orgy of expense with professionally designed outfits and gear (for both particiapant and WAG’s), 5 star accommodation, exclusive courses , full TV and media coverage, A list celebrities and VIP’s, crowds, global interest, coutesy cars and sponsorship : all of which ‘The Diggers’ rail against. The anti-Diggers as it were, but we appreciate the efforts these brave, money laden pro’s expend to salute the tiring work of we, the few.
With the traditional barbed comments, endless speculation, cat calls and general verbal abuse from those attending, ‘The Diggers’ is an annual, not-for profit (or fame), non recompensed celebration of anything BUT golf.
